Free vCard QR Code Generators Compared

Choose QRCode Monkey for free QR artwork customization, goQR.me for separate contact fields, or Digital Business Card: NFC QR for an Android card with direct VCF sharing. The deciding questions are what the recipient actually saves and where your details are processed. Business Card Tap is not affiliated with QRCode Monkey or goQR.me.

Start with the output you need

A vCard QR code carries structured contact information; a VCF file carries that information as a contact file. A downloaded PNG or SVG is an image of the QR, not a VCF attachment. If you need a graphic for printed stationery, compare image exports. If you need a contact attachment, look for an explicit VCF option. Also distinguish a QR containing the contact itself from one opening a web page. Ask to see the decoded content before treating either as the same deliverable.

QRCode Monkey: customization and print formats

QRCode Monkey’s web generator offers vCard 2.1 and 3.0, with separate name fields, organization, job title, work, private and mobile numbers, email, website, and postal address. Its static QR codes are free. Downloads include PNG, SVG, PDF, and EPS; SVG preserves the full design, while PDF and EPS have design restrictions. Choose it when the artwork matters. Its form also offers colors, shapes, and a logo, but inspect the saved contact separately from the graphic.

goQR.me: separate contact and address fields

goQR.me’s free web generator includes personal and business email fields, personal, mobile and business phone fields, a company, website, and address. Its extended vCard form, linked from the main page and presented in German, adds two address groups with personal or business labels. QR image downloads include PNG, JPEG, SVG, and EPS. This is a useful option when distinguishing work and personal details matters more than decorative styling. Start with the standard form and use the extended form only if you need its additional structure.

Inspect the contact, not just the preview

Open a VCF copy in a plain text editor, or inspect the decoded QR text with a trusted reader. For vCard 3.0, RFC 2426 defines BEGIN:VCARD and END:VCARD boundaries, VERSION:3.0, FN for the display name, and N for structured name components. Look for TEL, EMAIL, ORG, TITLE, URL, and ADR where relevant. These labels help you spot missing information; they do not prove every receiving app will import it correctly. Compare the imported contact with your intended fields, including phone labels and the order of given and family names. Do not upload a real contact to an unfamiliar online decoder just to inspect it.

Compare processing, retention, and scanning separately

QRCode Monkey’s FAQ says it does not save or reuse entered data, while QR images are cached on its server for 24 hours. goQR.me’s privacy explanation says contact content is sent over an encrypted connection to its QR generation service, omitted from content logs, and cached as an image for about 30 seconds. It separately describes ordinary request metadata in server logs. Those statements do not mean generation happens entirely on your device. goQR.me also says its direct QR codes do not report scans to its servers. Choose based on whether server processing is acceptable for the details you intend to publish.

Where Digital Business Card: NFC QR fits

The Android app creates its vCard 3.0 contact file and on-screen QR locally. Its free card includes a name, job title, company, one phone number, email, website, and social links. Use Send contact file for a VCF attachment. A second phone, address, second website, and note require Pro, as do branding and QR poster export. If a free postal address or several labeled phone numbers are essential, the web forms above offer a closer fit. The app suits keeping one card on your phone and sharing the contact file directly; it is not a substitute for a free vector artwork download.

The app’s privacy statements need a careful reading

Digital Business Card: NFC QR stores card details on your device. However, its Google Play Data safety section, checked November 5, 2026, declares possible collection and sharing of device or other IDs, while the app’s privacy text says it has no analytics or third-party trackers. These statements are not aligned, so local card generation should not be treated as a blanket promise of zero data collection. Read the latest store disclosure before deciding whether it meets your requirements. For any tool, leave out private home details and avoid opening links on cards from people you do not recognize.

Run a small acceptance check before printing

First, list the fields a recipient must receive and choose the free option that includes them. Next, create a sample using only information you are comfortable sharing. Save or scan it on the phones your recipients use, then inspect the resulting contact for missing numbers, misplaced names, altered punctuation, and unwanted fields. Test the actual image at its intended print size, rather than relying on a large screen preview. Keep the approved contact file and QR image together so you know which version you distributed. If you change your details later, repeat the check before replacing the artwork.

Frequently asked questions

Will a free vCard QR code expire?

QRCode Monkey says its static codes have no expiration or scan limit. goQR.me says its direct codes cannot expire because scanning does not depend on its servers. This does not keep an outdated phone number correct or guarantee that a website listed in the contact will remain available.

Can I change the contact after printing the QR?

A QR containing the contact itself keeps the original details. Generate and distribute a new image after changing them. If you need changes behind the same printed graphic, check a provider’s editable service and its ongoing terms separately; those are outside this free static comparison.

Does adding a logo put it in the saved contact?

Do not assume so. A logo decorating a QR image and a photo or logo embedded in a contact are different things. If the saved contact needs an image, inspect that imported contact before choosing a generator on the strength of its artwork preview.

Does the app export identical information through every route?

Long fields can differ: the app’s card-link page limits each text field to 500 characters, so a long Pro note can be shortened there. For a lengthy note, use Send contact file and check the received VCF rather than assuming the link produces an identical copy.

Is a vCard QR code private?

Treat a shared contact QR as readable by anyone who obtains it. RFC 2426 gives vCards no inherent authentication or privacy. Publish only the details you want recipients to keep, and consider where an image could be copied before posting it publicly.

Which option should I choose if I only need a VCF file?

Choose a tool with explicit contact-file sharing rather than assuming a QR image download includes a VCF. Digital Business Card: NFC QR provides Send contact file in its free card. Confirm the required contact fields first, especially if you need an address or second number.

Turn your phone into your business card. Business Card Tap sends your details to another phone with a tap over NFC, and falls back to an on-screen QR code when NFC isn't available. Fully offline, no account.
